Japanese Pepper Boiled in Sweetened Soy

Japanese Pepper (Boiled) Sake Soy Sauce Tamari Sauce (substitute: Soy sauce 1/2 cup and Mirin 1 tablespoon for Tamari Sauce ) |
2 -1/4 Cup 1/2 Cup 1/4 Cup 1/4 Cup |
1. Bring water to a boil in a medium pot. Add Japanese pepper and boil for 5 minutes. After boiled, immerse in ice water for a minimum of 1 hour (the longer it is soaked, the spicier it will be).
2. Combine 1/2 cup sake, 1/4 cup soy sauce and ¼ cup tamari sauce in a pot over low heat. Add Japanese pepper and simmer.
3. Remove layer of film that forms as sauce is simmering. Simmer until the sauce is gone.
4. Place on plate and eat with your favorite dish.
