KIKU began airing the Lone Wolf with Cub series in 2018. There are three seasons of this program and we just completed airing the third and final season. Once season one was completed, we re-aired it in its entirety before we aired season two. When season two ended, we re-aired it in its entirety before beginning season three. Now that season three has ended, we’ll be re-airing it, too. This has some people confused because the final episode of season three was obviously very final. But we will be re-airing it beginning this Friday night.

Many people were also confused by a comment Retsudo made in the final episode. He called Daigoro his grandson, leaving many people wondering if there was some blood connection between them. But from what we understand, Retsudo was referring to Daigoro as “grandson of my heart” versus a blood relative.

Hope you enjoyed this series and will watch it again. Please share with us who your favorite character was. Will anyone say Abe?

  1. Walter says:

What happened to actor who played Daigoro in season 1?

  2. Jeff Estep says:

Will you air any of the Lone Wolf Movies

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

We do not have any plans to air the Lone Wolf movies. They come from a different company from the one that licensed the series to us.

  3. H. Miyamoto says:

How come Daigoro’s shaved portions of head never grows back?
Should have at least 1 episode which shows him being shaved by Ogami, or “barber” in area.

I realize programs are “fiction,” but the fiction is more like comic book/super hero fiction; humans are acting, so should be a bit more realistic.

Combination comedy-drama-love stories, fictional or actual experiences are my choices for programming.

Too much ‘violence’ on TV nowadays.

Was the actor who played Abe, one of the early pursuer…in season, he seemed to be in short trousers and his face was not distorted as later

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

Ohhhh, we’ll have to check into that. If it was, that’s an amazing catch on your part!

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

We checked the actor credits but cannot find any confirmation that the extra playing a pursuer is the same person who played Abe. However, after looking at the video, we think you are correct!

  5. Greg says:

I *do* wish it was the original Retsudo in the first season facing off against Ogami in the finale. He looked the most organic and menacing. But they kept changing actors and makeup more than even Daigoro as the story went on…

  6. Richard Kiyabu says:

Is there a series showing Daigoro growing up an becoming a samurai too?

  7. fleur eng-reeves says:

Thank you for the explanation of re-showing the season 3 of Lone Wolf w/ Cub. I would rather love to watch from the first episodes of the season I then the season II, as we just finished to see the season III, the final end of this fabulous fictional story captivating my heart and soul! Don’t anyone agree?

  8. Lynn Otsubo says:

after you re air Lone Wolf with Cub will there be another drama in its position in 2021? Why can’t you ahow something else now? What about using the programs you were going to show when Kirin Ga Kuru wasn’t being shown?

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

Our Lone Wolf license agreement requires a second airing within a specific period of time. However, we do plan to air another drama when Lone Wolf is done.

But also, unlike Netflix or other subscriber channels, KIKU is free to our viewers; you pay no monthly fee for our programming. Our only source of revenue comes from our advertising clients, and this is what is used to license new programs. With so many businesses (including our clients) having a difficult time staying afloat as a result of Covid-19, we have had to scale back our program acquisition plans. We ask for your patience and understanding during this trying time.

I cannot really say Abe was a favorite but I did look forward to seeing what he was up to each week. My favorite character was Daigoro!

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

But you have to admit Abe was a stroke of creative genius — in appearance and personality — on the part of the writer, producer, and director.

  10. dk says:

can you re air final episode

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

We will be re-airing season three (including the final episode) starting this Friday night.

      • Jo-Ann Perry says:

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for re-airing season three. I have watched Lone Wolf every Friday and the repeats on Saturday since the beginning of this program.
Both actors who portrayed Daigoro were perfect for their roles. I especially felt the love when Ogami Itto held Daigoro after being separated for awhile or when Ogami Itto realized Daigoro was safe and sound. Kinnosuke Yorozuya was cast perfectly for the role of Ogami Itto. I love this Samurai series. Is there a possibility of re-airing the entire series?

        • Phyllis Kihara says:

Our license agreement only included two airings for each season. And we have already re-aired seasons one and two. Sorry.

  11. Gerald says:

Tamono Abe was a superb character developed by the writer, director and producer of Lone Wolf and Cub. With his bucked-teeth appearance, it was very creative and humorous yet interesting since, after all, he was smart and intelligent enough in concocting all those ways to eliminate Retsudo and Itto.

    • Phyllis Kihara says:

Abe was definitely an interesting character. You have to appreciate the creativity of the show’s producers to create a character with his appearance and personality.
